Off to a good start
I've got to say, I'm enjoying Day 1 of my 7 days of new smoothie recipes. I'm starting off slow (and conservative) but already planning tomorrow's smoothie.
I've been getting too boring. Really. Toss some frozen berries into the blender, add a frozen banana, pour in some liquid (milk, water or OJ) and maybe some protein powder. Blend. Pour. Drink. Good but not exciting.
Day 1 - I'm adding back fresh oranges to the mix. I had forgotten how much I love a whole orange in a smoothie. The oranges available in the local grocery stores haven't looked good for months so I was ecstatic to see some that looked so good I was tempted to just bite in.
I'm also swapping out my traditional liquid. I'm not a huge fan of adding a bunch of empty calories but I couldn't resist picking up a litre of pineapple coconut juice this weekend. A little bit won't hurt, it adds sweetness and it is high in Vitamin C.
I’m creating what I now will affectionately refer to as the Tropical Smoothie for no other reason than that it makes me feel like I should be sipping this smoothie while watching the sunrise on a beautiful beach somewhere really warm. I can honestly say that I haven’t had a smoothie that could evoke that type of response in a long, long time. The ingredients are simple, tried and true but the feeling I get when I’m drinking this is make it a special drink.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this smoothie - plus, it is also kid-approved.
