Take it easy for lasting benefit
I never, ever thought I’d be able to stomach making a green smoothie recipe. I didn’t even try one until I read Harley Pasternak ‘s The Body Reset Diet book back in 2013. I had to build up the courage but once I made the leap I’ve never looked back.
The green smoothie recipes below are what I consider to be “gateway” green smoothies as they are a little easier to swallow. Best to ease in real slow before going all the way with the hard core green smoothies. Would hate for you to try a green smoothie, gag and give them up forever; you’d be missing out on all the lasting benefits and we don’t want that.
Check them out and let me know what you think:
1. Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Doesn’t sound very green but does include Spinach.
2. Simple Green Smoothies “Beginner’s Luck”. As the name suggests, this recipe is a good starter green smoothie.
3. Mojito Smoothie Recipe. This might be cheating since not your traditional green smoothie (since it has no veggies in it) but since I love a mojito it makes the list.
4. The Green Tea Smoothie is a great one to get you started as it has more fruit than vegetables with the added bonus of green tea.
Remember: blend your leafy greens with your liquid base first to really break them down. This serves two purposes: one, you get a nice texture and two, your straw doesn’t get clogged. Happy sipping. You are on your way – you’ll be drinking veggie packed green smoothies in no time.
